Cyberattack Simulation
ICMA is partnering with the Professional Development Academy to bring you a cyberattack simulation training at bring you a cyberattack simulation training at ZERO COST!

In response to the growing threat landscape and complexity of the interdependent and networked business of local government, ICMA is partnering with the Professional Development Academy and their community of CISOs, CIOS, risk managers, and cyber leaders to bring you a cyberattack simulation training at ZERO COST!

SIMULATION TOPIC: The Internet of Things (IoT) – June 12 through June 16

Never before have “smart” devices been so heavily integrated into the consumer space. Home security, speakers, appliances, wearable technology – this network of physical objects keeps us continuously connected. IoT also has applications in the public sector as government agencies hope to integrate technologies to better deliver services to their communities. This simulation focuses on the possible value and potential associated risks with the cybersecurity of IoT.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?

The cyberattack simulation is designed for any cybersecurity manager as well as teams responsible for risk defense, protection, and recovery (including managers in HR, policy management, finance, public safety, and emergency services).

WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?

Designed with a time commitment of 45-90 minutes per day for the duration of one week, activities can be completed on the participant’s schedule and accessed online anywhere. The intentionally designed data injections followed by participant responses (nine in total throughout the week) foster high levels of engagement that assess current preparedness for a cyberattack and identify what is needed to close security gaps.

SIMULATION OBJECTIVES:

  • Provide a certified test of incident management plans.
  • Baseline current cybersecurity and risk management work capabilities.
  • Strengthen the leadership skills of managers responsible for risk planning and incident resolution.
  • Improve the quality of the incident management plans and playbook details.
  • Develop immediate action plans to strengthen people, process, and technical security controls.

WHAT IS THE COST?

The retail price of the simulation program is $795 per enrollee; however, due to scholarships provided by ICMA, you can register (yourself AND your team) for FREE!
