ICMA is pleased to introduce the new CityLinks Primer on Subnational Approaches for Low Emission, Climate Resilient Development with a webinar on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. CityLinks invites you to join Dana Kenney, (Winrock International), Joshua Gallo (World Bank), and Margaret McKenzie (Urban Earth) for a one hour panel discussion followed by an audience Q&A. The webinar will explore challenges and promising approaches cities can use to increase and improve climate mitigation and adaptation actions in the context of sustainable development goals.

Today’s cities face unprecedented challenges to their sustainable development as a result of rapidly expanding populations, rising greenhouse gas emissions, and the increasing effects of climate change.

Many city leaders now recognize that a sustainable growth pathway is not possible without addressing these challenges, and yet their remains limited information on cost-effective ways to reduce urban GHG emissions (mitigation) and the vulnerability of urban dwellers, infrastructure, and public services to climate change (adaptation).

This webinar will help address this information gap as well as introduce the CityLinks Primer by presenting a number of case studies highlighting the most promising approaches.

You will learn about:

  • The new CityLinks Primer on Subnational Approaches to Low Emission, Climate Resilient Development
  • Case studies highlighting the most promising approaches
  • Examples in governance, financing, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge sharing.
