2023-24 ICMA Executive Board

The ICMA Executive Board held its quarterly meeting December 1-2, 2023, in Bentonville, Arkansas, and took the following actions:

  • Reviewed reports on the results of the 2023 ICMA Annual Conference in Austin, Texas; progress to date on ICMA's FY2024 budget priorities; and the development of a pricing strategy for ICMA products.
  • Received an update on the work of the Governance Task Force
  • Approved appointments of both a public and a private sector representative to the MissionSquare Retirement Board of Directors. 
  • Approved an allocation of funding from net assets to hire a consultant to assist in conducting a market analysis and developing a business plan for an expansion of ICMA's certification program.
  • Approved the set of operational priorities that will be considered in the development of ICMA's FY2025 budget.
  • Approved the interview questions that will be used by 2024 Regional Nominating Committees when interviewing candidates for regional vice presidents to serve on the ICMA Executive Board.
  • Approved the slate of member committees and task forces to be included in the 2024 Call for Volunteers.
  • Approved the creation of a "SheLeadsGov" member committee to be included in the 2024 Call for Volunteers.
  • Approved the title, criteria, and eligibility criteria for a new Advocacy for the Profession Award in Honor of
    Martha Perego.
  • Endorsed the proposed relationship model for ICMA's International Affiliates. 

At their dinner on Friday, December 1, the board was joined by a number of members from the area, including Emily Cox, interim city manager of Little Rock; Susan Langley, city clerk for the city of Little Rock; Lance Spicer, deputy city manager of Hot Springs and his partner Nicole Good; Jeff Dingman, deputy city manager of Fort Smith and his partner Janel; Phillip Patterson from the Arkansas Municipal League; and Allison Hayes from the ICMA Student Chapter at the University of Arkansas.

The board’s next meeting is scheduled for March 8-9, 2024, in Vancouver, British Columbia.
