Saline County is seeking a highly qualified, proven leader to serve as our next County Administrator.

The current Administrator is retiring March 31, 2026.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in organizational leadership and a solid background in budgeting and financial management, including the ability to plan and fund new initiatives. This individual will be responsible for guiding current operations while ensuring the long-term success and growth of Saline County and its residents.

We are seeking someone who leads with confidence, integrity, and principal leadership, who maintains a visible and active presence in the community, is able to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights. demonstrates strong collaboration and communication with County Commissioners and understands county governance and the role of elected officials.

The County Administrator position directs and coordinates administration of County government in accordance with policies established by the County Commission. Prepares annual budgets and financial plans and monitors expenditures. Responsible for the County’s Human Resource, Information Technology, Planning, Environmental Health and Finance functions, including supervision over staff performing these functions. Exercises day-to-day supervision of all appointed Department Heads. Provides information on a variety of subjects for Commissioners as the need arises. Represents the County at meetings with community organizations and intergovernmental partners. This position serves at the will and under the general supervision of the County Commission under an employment contract.

Salary Information:

Salary starting point is between $175,000 and $190,000 annually. Negotiable.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Master's degree in business or public administration, planning or related field preferred. Five or more years progressively responsible experience in local government administrative or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities as listed in the other qualifications.
Must have a valid Kansas Driver’s License.
Thorough knowledge of governmental budgeting and the principles of organization, management and supervision.
Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of public administration.
Thorough knowledge of the structure, functions, operations, policies and procedures of County government and intergovernmental relations.
Thorough knowledge of research methods and techniques as they apply to governmental operations.
Ability to provide effective leadership, emphasizing a team concept and coordination in developing solutions, recommending new techniques and supervising staff procedures.
Ability to plan and coordinate a diverse number of activities simultaneously.
Advanced proficiency in communication, throughout the organization and with other groups. Understanding and ability to use business communication methods and techniques.
Ability to prepare, present and interpret complex reports such as legal documents, bond issues, policy statements, budgets and manuals.
Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with County Commissioners, County Department Heads, County employees, City agents and employees, other public officials and the general public.
Demonstrated skill in negotiation. Knowledge of collective bargaining process.
Demonstrates proficiency in the use of personal computers for word processing and spreadsheet analysis.
Ability to interpret fiscal trends to develop and manage the budget.
Understanding of organizational culture, employee engagement and organizational dynamics in implementing a proactive structure and systems to promote a positive image of the County and all Departments.
