State Associations
State associations are key partners in connecting ICMA with local government professionals and supporting the profession at the state level. ICMA works with state association leadership and staff on member engagement, professional development, state conferences and events, advocacy for professional local government management, and peer support, while recognizing the unique needs and priorities of each association.
State associations also play an important role in the Senior Advisor program and provide valuable insight into emerging issues affecting local government professionals and communities. Together, ICMA and state associations encourage professionals to take advantage of the complementary value of engagement with both organizations.
