Maria Solano has been selected as ICMA's new deputy executive director/chief operating officer. 

Maria brings extensive experience in local government to her new position. As deputy city manager of Plymouth, Minnesota, she has a strong record of working with communities and elected officials to drive key initiatives. Her career has included various roles across the Twin Cities metro area since 2015, with positions in St. Louis Park, Coon Rapids, and Mankato. 

A dedicated public servant, Maria is an active member of the local government community. She is currently in her fourth term as a director of the Minnesota City/County Management Association and serves on the board of directors for the Local Government Hispanic Network. She holds an MPA and a bachelor of political science from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Maria will fill a critical vacancy on the ICMA Leadership Team and will support a strategic focus on programs and services valued by ICMA members and supporting professional local government globally.
