Homeowners hit by Chinese drywall issues had few places to turn for help.  Realizing that there were few to zero recourses for affected inhabitants, the city of Parkland decided to take action.  A committee was organized to expedite permit speed and a program was developed so that qualified applicants could have their permit fees paid by the government.

As a result, one-hundred and fifty homes have been or will be rebuilt.  The program has helped member of the community rebuild their lives and has added revenue through resecuring taxes on the rebuilt homes.

This case study was nominated for ICMA's Annual Awards Program.
