The City of Stanwood, WA is seeking a Project Manager (Parks, Trails, Open Space and Development Projects) for this vibrant community. Stanwood is the town center serving a diverse rural, suburban and urban population of 34,000 people spread across two counties in what is generally identified as “Greater Stanwood Camano.” Stanwood’s residential population totals 9,828 and is one of the fastest growing communities in Snohomish County. Many residents outside the City come into Stanwood for business, community events and park and recreation services. The City is focusing on retaining its role as the center of the Greater Stanwood area by pursuing new endeavors that support the downtown and employment diversification. This area is rich in both scenic beauty and natural resources.
THE POSITION
Under general direction, the Project Manager plans, organizes and manages a wide range of parks, trails, open space, and development projects from inception through implementation. This position leads public engagement, secures and administers grants, coordinates with consultants and stakeholders, and ensures successful project delivery that supports Stanwood’s strategic goals.
The ideal candidate will:
• Have extensive experience in project management, ideally in public sector parks, planning, or engineering roles.
• Be well-versed in the principles of planning, construction, site design, landscape architecture, and public engagement.
• Be an effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments, with consultants, and with the community.
• Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Demonstrate initiative, problem-solving ability, and a customer service mindset.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The annual range is $108,612 – $122,232. Placement within the range will be dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. An excellent benefits package provides medical insurance, dental and vision coverage, life, and long-term disability insurance. Paid Time Off starting at 21 days per year. Eleven paid holidays per year. Employee Assistance Program. Washington State Public Employees Retirement System, and Deferred Compensation Retirement Plans, with a City contribution.
