The City of Yucaipa, located in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains, is seeking a dynamic and community-focused City Manager to lead one of the Inland Empire’s most desirable communities. Home to approximately 54,500 residents, Yucaipa is known for its small-town charm, family-oriented values, and exceptional quality of life, offering more than 4,000 acres of open space, parks, trails, and recreational amenities.
The ideal candidate will be an ethical, forward-thinking, and visible leader who values transparency, accountability, and collaboration. They will inspire staff, partner effectively with the City Council, and engage the community in meaningful ways while preserving Yucaipa’s small-town identity and guiding balanced, thoughtful growth.
Key opportunities include delivering a balanced budget, establishing a long-term financial plan, enhancing emergency preparedness, and advancing the City’s commitment to transparency, public safety, and organizational excellence.
Qualifications: A combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical path includes a Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred. And a minimum of five years of City Manager or comparable municipal/governmental executive leadership experience in municipal government.
Compensation: Salary: $260,000–$320,000 DOQ, plus an attractive benefits package. A mutually agreeable employment agreement will be negotiated including terms and conditions of employment.
