Springfield, Vermont (pop. 9,000) is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Town Manager to lead the execution of its ambitious Strategic Plan and guide the community through a period of transformation. Nationally recognized for its robust fiber optic network, the historic New England mill town is experiencing an economic renewal. Fueled by the unique combination of small town living with large town broadband, reasonable housing prices, and a strong sense of place, Springfield is becoming a community of distinction in Southern Vermont.

The Selectboard seeks a growth – oriented manager who is inspired by the Selectboard’s vision to grow the tax base, increase the population, and expand the housing opportunities. The board envisions a capable leader who can serve as a catalyst for community initiatives, works well with community and regional partners, and has a genuine interest in the long term vitality of the community. A collaborative leadership style, deep knowledge of town government, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential attributes. A Bachelor’s Degree is required; a relevant advanced degree is preferred. Previous leadership experience in a dynamic, public organization is required.
