
The ICMA Executive Board held its most recent monthly virtual meeting on August 8, 2025, and took the following actions:
- Approved the appointment of Meighan Wark, county administrator for Huron County, Ontario, to fill the international regional vice presidential seat vacated due to the resignation of Doug Gilchrist, for the remainder of the 2023-2026 term representing Canada.
- Approved granting Life Membership to Chris MacPherson of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.
- Approved the creation of a new award that acknowledges the essential partnership between the professional manager and elected body. The Good Governance Award will be part of the 2026 calendar of awards. More information about this award will be shared with the membership during the ICMA Annual Conference in Tampa, Florida.
- Completed annual update of Governance Principles and Board Operating Procedures.
- Discussed the final governance recommendations and constitutional amendments to be presented to the membership at the annual conference. Read more about the governance changes that will go into effect in 2027.
- Integrated the charge of the board’s Global Vision and Collaboration Committee with the board’s Membership and External Outreach Committee. The board approved sunsetting its separate Global Vision and Collaboration Committee in order to align the focus of the board committee with the new organizational structure and integrate international relationships with other member-focused activities.
- To align ICMA’s work in Europe with a broader strategy in Europe, the board approved the dissolution of the ICMA Europe office in Slovakia. Read more on ICMA’s evolving International focus.
The board's next quarterly meeting will be held in Tampa, Florida, October 24, 2025.
