This is the 2010 nomination of Wake County, North Carolina's Feed the Bin School Recycling Program for the Community Sustainability Award. County Manager David Cook is credited with creating this program which funds mixed paper recycling at Wake County public schools. Not only does this program actively engage students in recycling, but it also provides complimentary education resources for students and teachers. As a result of the implementation of this program, 1,000 cubic yards of the County's local landfill have been saved.
