Las Vegas, better known to some as the Entertainment Capital of the World boasts one of the most impressive sustainability programs in the United States. Through local and federal government collaboration the city has been able to utilize their sunny location to their benefit through the implementation of a number of solar projects resulting in a $20 million decrease in cumulative energy costs. Additionally, they have water conservation and recycling systems in play. This program is the winning submission for the 2016 Local Government Excellence Awards in the category of Community Sustainability (populations of 50,000 and greater).
