The City of Austin undertook multipronged public engagement processes for the development of its annual budget and 2012 General Obligation bond program by involving citizens in evaluating community values for spending public dollars as well as assessing priorities for bond projects and budget items. The innovations developed during these processes have set a standard and been replicated in other cities and agencies.
