Deputy City Manager

The City Manager is looking for an energetic collaborative individual who is passionate about local government to serve as the Deputy City Manager to assist with the daily management of the City.
The responsibilities of this position includes overseeing the operations of a diverse portfolio of departments. The individual in this position will have an opportunity to work on a variety of interesting and complex projects working with the City Council, department directors, City staff, and the community. The Deputy City Manager may also serve as the Acting City Manager in the absence of the City Manager. This position will be responsible for keeping abreast of changes in Federal, State and local law, and rules and regulations, as well as analyzing the impact of those changes. The position serves as a liaison to City departments, public safety agencies and programs based on general direction and policy of the City Manager.
The position requires graduation from accredited four-year university with major coursework in management, business or public administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a related field is desirable as is any other Executive Level educational achievements, including but not limited to Mission Square credentialed manager designation. Extensive executive administrative experience of more than five years at the department head or higher top management level is desired, including experience and expertise in most facets of municipal management including budget administration, city planning, economic development, executive staff supervision, public transportation, public safety, and automated management information systems.
