This is the 2010 nomination of Miami Beach, Florida's Leadership Academy program for the Strategic Leadership and Governance Award. City Manager Jorge Gonzalez is credited with helping develop this Leadership Academy to foster civic engagement. As a result, 98% of alumni are now active in their neighborhood associations.
