This is the 2010 nomination of Alexandria, Virginia's Strategic Response System for Alexandria's Police Department for the Strategic Leadership and Governance Award. With the help of City Manager James K. Hartmann, the Alexandria Police Department was able to improve their response system to one that attempted to reduce crime, the fear of crime, and improve the quality of life for the population of Alexandria. The goal of this new system has been to incorporate crime analysis into decision-making so that policing strategies are more effective overall.
