In an effort to combat the H1N1 Pandemic early on, the Regional Municipality of Niagara, Ontario, created the Innovation in Immunization: Protocol for Electronic Systems (PECS). It allowed for timely, streamlined, standardized tracking of patients through the use of the PECS, a record management software system.  It was used by many public health outlets across Ontario to track H1N1 immunizations.
