The overall intent of the redevelopment of the project was revitalization. This park was highly underutilized by the public and had significant flooding issue which affected the local businesses along that roadway. The City looked at the redevelopment as a revitalization of the area because with an improved stormwater system local businesses would continue to flourish along that street. The flooding was at times so severe it would close down restaurants and offices across the way.The purpose of this restoration was to mitigate recurring flooding in a passive park and improve park amenities. Many Stormwater improvements were added along with the creation of a bio-swale to improve water quality. Park amenities were also added including pavilions, a pedestrian bridge, and benches along the winding brick-paved walkways throughout the park. One of its highly significant environmental improvements - it is completely irrigated with reclaimed water. A complete overhaul of the drainage system within the park with priority to water quality and quantity is now complete.
