City and county managers are charged with finding the most effective ways to use tax dollars in combating crime. To do this, it makes sense to look at the risk factors related to crime prevention. Although the process of moving programs toward becoming evidence-based is time-consuming and takes investment and collaboration among multiple stakeholders, programs should have some fundamental evidence, such as a logic model, and should be actively collecting data in order to show some level of effectiveness for those they serve.
