Youth Offender (YO) Court is a specialty court that focuses on helping youth between the ages of 18-24 who have been diagnosed with the disease of addiction and have found their way to the judicial system because of crimes committed while in their active addiction. The Court places an emphasis on having the participants become productive members of their community. What sets the YO Court apart from other Specialty Courts is the mandated participation of the family members. Crucial to the success of the program is being able to communicate effectively with all parties involved. YO Court leverages the genuine interests of it's participants by communicating with them by their preferred means, promoting healthy relationships, engaging them to alter their lifestyles, and by providing positive reinforcement with the help from the community
